The “request for additional classification” can only be used to add classifications to an existing license for all types of business entities, including limited liability companies. You can add any classification to an existing license for which you have qualifying experience and for which you pass the appropriate exam. Under section 7044 of the BPC, owners who build or improve structures on their own land are exempt from contractor`s licensing laws in certain circumstances. The Builder B-General Building Construction Project Experience form must be completed by the qualifier on the application if they claim experience as a builder working on projects on their own property. The experience must be verifiable by building permits, final inspections or similar documents. Visit theLBS website for a list of acceptable supporting experience documents that can be submitted to theLBS to support the claimed experience. (BPC Section 7068 and T16 CCR Section 824) A separate form is required for each project on the client`s property. Please note that almost half of all applications submitted to the CSLB are inaccurate or incomplete and must be returned to the applicant for correction or completion! The contractor or other person acting as an authorized person must have at least four full years of experience in travel or as a foreman, supervisor or contractor in the classification for which he or she is applying within the ten years immediately preceding the filing of the application. The experience claimed in the application must be verifiable and persons with knowledge of the experience must certify the accuracy of the information on experience provided by the applicant. Select the California Corporation check box if the company is a corporation. Businesses must be registered with California SOS and in good condition before obtaining a contractor`s license. Companies must provide a current and active SOS registration number, if specified in section 2 of the application.

Applicants who have been criminally convicted are not automatically refused admission – each application is examined individually on the basis of the applicable legal sections. When reviewing criminal convictions, the CSLB considers factors such as the nature and seriousness of the offences, the time elapsed since convictions, and any evidence of rehabilitation provided by the applicant. The CSLB contains several provisions for the review of criminal convictions, including Title 16 of Sections 868, 868.1, and 869 of the California Code of Regulations. Section 868 describes how to assess whether a criminal offence is essentially related to the qualifications, duties or duties of a licensee or registrant. Section 868.1 determines whether a financial offence is directly and negatively related to the qualifications, duties or fiduciary duties of a licensee or registrant; and section 869 specifies whether an applicant has demonstrated rehabilitation.
